Meet the #teamPhoenix - Karina Brence

Here at Phoenix we are proud of every member of our team. Whether they're in the office or on-site, everyone works tirelessly to ensure that the overall stability and success of Phoenix is always at the highest level.

As we continue to introduce members of our wonderful team, this week we are excited to get to know Karina Brence, who is part of our Accounts team.

She is an important member of the team and we are delighted to learn more about her in meet the #teamPhoenix!

How long have you been at Phoenix for, and what part do you play within the company?

I joined Phoenix in August 2021 as an Office Administrator and progressed into the Accounts team. I started off by helping out here and there and now have taken over most of the basic account tasks. Could not have done it without the support of our little account's family!

What did you want to be when you were younger?

At a very young age, I wanted to become a vet, until discovered my fear of needles so that did not work out. A few years later around the age of 16, I first visited England and saw police officers on horses in the middle of London. That became my new dream…for a while.

Tell us about your first ever job?

It was a summer job when I was in high school and clueless about grown-up life. I had applied to help in a kitchen but got to do many other things within that month. It gave me a little bit of experience in customer service. Hardest 190€ of my life!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

To be completely honest – I do love lazy evenings in front of a TV. On a crazy weekend me and my mum go hiking, a new place each time!

Share the best piece of advice that anyone has ever given you?

My grandmother and I once had one... or more glasses of wine and she told me to be as independent in my life as I can be. You can never trust anyone 100% and in a situation when you are left alone – you should be able to stand on your own two feet!

What destination do you hope to visit one day?

There are so many amazing places to go to in England and in Latvia that I am not too fussed about going abroad. Maybe in the future, but first I would like to explore what this country has to offer.

And finally, what does being part of #teamPhoenix mean to you?

This is my first office job and being here has taught me so much about teamwork and how one can not succeed without others support. T.E.A.M. – together everyone achieves more. There are so many talented people here, which gives me determination to keep going. My favourite part is company nights out, just because I love to put names to faces and I get to know the people I have chatted with over email.
