Meet the #teamPhoenix - Jason Cordova

Here at Phoenix Brickwork/Drywall/Scaffold, we are proud of every member of our team. Whether they're in the office or on-site, everyone works tirelessly to ensure that the overall stability and success of Phoenix is always at the highest level.

We are all #teamPhoenix, and we want to continue showcasing those within by giving you the chance to know more about them, including some stories and advice. Last week, Ian Artley told us about his love of football, and in particular coaching his daughters teams.

This week it's the turn of Quantity Surveyor, Jason Cordova.

How long have you been at Phoenix for, and how have you progressed in your time here?

I’ve been with Phoenix since the early 2015, so 6 ½ years. I’ve learned more about construction in my time with Phoenix than I did in my previous 15-years in the industry.

What was your background in the industry before Phoenix?

Before I got into the masonry subcontracting side, I did some setting out engineering for a concrete company, and then worked as a materials engineer back in the U.S.A.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Spending time with the family. I used to do a bit of running, so I need to get back to that!

What's the best project you've been part of?

My favourite project would have to be Mustard Wharf in Leeds. The brickwork detail on that project is something to behold and I’m glad I was part of it. The Guildhall in York is a close second due to the challenges it has faced, with it being right in the middle of a busy tourist city and in the shadow of the York Minster.

Do you have any funny stories on-site that you'd like to share?

Too many to tell! If you’ve ever hung around bricklayers on site you’ll definitely laugh but unfortunately it’s not for print.

What would you say to those looking to get into the industry?

It’s a great industry with plenty of work. If you’re technically minded and enjoy a challenge, then this industry is definitely for you.

And finally, what does being part of #teamPhoenix mean to you?

The beauty, and my favorite part of working with Phoenix is that it is a growing company but with the feel of a small company. You can talk to anyone from Directors to Site Operatives as an equal as we’re all in this together with the same goal in mind.
