CASTLE MEAD ACADEMY

  • VALUE: £825,000.00
  • CONTRACTOR: BAM Construct UK
  • LOCATION: Leicester, Leicestershire

Phoenix has been awarded both the brickwork and SFS packages on Castle Mead Academy in Leicester. This scheme is a 1,200-place 8FE new academy created on a brown-field site that was the former Kirby and West Dairy, the picturesque site is along the River Soar and of heritage interest, with Friars Mill on the other side of the river. This three-storey building is a combination of brickwork and standing seam cladding to both the main teaching building and the new sports facility. Our client has benefitted from Phoenix’s in house cross trade coordination between masonry and SFS, resulting in a well-managed and complete through-wall package. This is another project that has felt the full wrath of the COVID-19 pandemic, yet through careful planning, additional social distancing measures, revised working practices and teamwork, it is another project that will be delivered despite all the challenges along the way.

This three-storey building was developed with enhanced, vertical standing-seam panel facades to complement the river elevation. To enhance the compact site extensive landscaping was developed to give variety to the student experience.

BAM Construction awarded Phoenix Brickwork / Drywall / Scaffold Ltd both ‘critical path’ SFS & Masonry packages starting Summer 2020 and delivered Spring 2021.
