KETTERING SCIENCE ACADEMY

Phoenix secured the masonry and scaffold package on Willmott Dixon’s new state-of-the-art sixth form block, an extension to the existing academy built in 2012. The works consisted of facing brickwork, internal architectural facing blockwork and commodity blockwork over three storeys, to construct new classrooms, dining facilities, a common room, study spaces, library, lecture theatre and full height atrium.

The onset of COVID-19 at the start of the scheme brought about several challenges but by working together to create enhanced safe working practices and social distancing, the project continued through tough times to minimise the effect on programme and budget.

Michelle Cotterill, Willmott Dixon Operations Director, said “The collaborative effort that our team, including partners and the customer, have put into keeping this project going throughout the pandemic has really demonstrated just what can be achieved.”
